About Us

Care homes must be registered with the Care Commission, and should therefore meet its Standards in all respects. However care homes vary greatly in the quality of the services they provide, particularly in relation to harder to measure qualities such as ‘homeliness’, engagement with staff, things to do and helping to maintain your independence.

The Sites Purpose

The purpose of this website is to enable residents and families to report their experiences for others to use when they come to choose a care home for themselves, a family member or a friend. The website can also be used to record comments and experiences of rehabilitation units and hospitals

Review Process

The website will not be useful until we have received a reasonable number of reviews. The most urgent need therefore is for you, a relative or friend to send in a review for a particular care home. We will edit this if necessary, and then include it in

the website – without identifying the author. Once we have received a number of reviews, users will be able to start using the information to help them choose a particular care home or homes.

The Next Stage

The next stage will be for people to begin to exchange experiences and ideas with one another – thus beginning a discussion, for example about how particular homes might be improved, or how inspections by the Care Commission might be made more effective.
