Care Advisor is
designed to enable people to record their experiences of care homes so that these can be shared by others who wish to
choose a home for themselves or for a relative or friend.
Our hope is to provide detailed
evaluations (according to some 28 criteria) and descriptions of experience for as many care homes in Scotland as possible.
Prospective users will be able to use these, together with information from reports by the Care Commission and homes themselves,
to help them make a satisfactory choice. Building up this information base will however take time.
By sending us your experience
of a particular care home. This can be done either directly on-line by or by posting the response form available from the website.
The response should be in two parts: (i) scores given to each of a wide range of criteria, and (ii) a verbal description of your
experience. Each response will be examined and if necessary edited.
We hope to achieve the following aims with the creation of this website.
To increase awareness of the standards you should expect
To help you to make an informed choice
To improve standards, particularly where there is concern
The site has been extended to include reviews of rehabilitation units and hospitals
for older and for younger people
The site is now open for responses. Please send in yours now! Check back soon to find out how the site is developing.
